TROLLSTIGEN
Dramatic,
exciting, a grand experience of nature and culture. This is the
simple description of Trollstigen.
After a 8 year-construction period, the road was opened 31. July
1936 by our then king, H.M. Haakon VII. In the steep mountainsides,
the road makes 11 turns uphill towards Trollstigen Fjellstue, which
is a natural stop at the top.
Trollstigen, situated in Møre
& Romsdal, Rauma rural district, is part of The
Golden Route, one of Norway's most visited tourist attractions.
How to get to Trollstigen? Follow the E 6 from Oslo to Dombås,
then take the Rv 136 to Åndalsnes. In total approx. 450 km
from Oslo. Åndalsnes,
"the alpe town by the fjord", is situated only approx.
20 km from Trollstigen. As you can see from the photos, the traffic
includes tourist coaches and motor caravans.
