The trip starts in Åndalsnes and ends in Geiranger. Trollstigen
Fjellstue, the mountain inn, is idyllically situated at the top
of the mountain. You will find it just after having passed the famous
11 hairpin bends. Stop and have something to eat on the way.
Norway, the land of the fjords, at its best. A dramatic, beautiful
and diverse landscape with mountains towering nearly 2000 metres
above sea level. Waterfalls and glaciers, shimmering mountain lakes
and deep blue fjords. Åndalsnes,
"The alpe town by Romsdalsfjorden", has Europe's highest,
steepest mountain as its nearest neighbour - Trollveggen. Explore
the beautiful wilderness of Trollstigen, before descending the more
tranquil Valldalen (Valley) down to Norddalsfjorden together with
Tafjord and Herdalen as natural pearls nearby. Experience the striking
view over the popular tourist place of Geiranger
and Geirangerfjorden from Ørneveggen. Going by boat or ferry
on Geirangerfjorden to Hellesylt is an experience you will never
forget. Or you may view it all from Dalsnibba, where you can go
1500 metres above sea level by car.
Within the area of The Golden Route you will find various types
of accommodation, ranging from camping sites with cabins to first
rate hotels. The range of activities available will cover most people's
interests.
